Canadians love
golfand fortunately, we have more than enough space and majestic
scenery to accommodate our 2000 golf courses, most within driving
distance of the international border. Seldom do our golfers wait
long for tee times, green fees are remarkably inexpensive, and our
nineteenth holes routinely look out on sweeping natural views. There
is one small downside to golf in Canada. Should you lose your ball,
as I regularly do, against the broad backdrop of snow-coated mountain
ranges, in the whitecap-topped ocean beside the fairway, or somewhere
in the tangle of forest surrounding the green, you may be forced
to take a stroke. Of course, all the other players will be dealing
with the same scenic challenge.
